I'm reminded of the Chuck Close quote, "Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and work."

Anonymous, it's very cool that you're in a journal class, and it's a little weird (but good) that you're learning about us. I'm glad that we can be of some inspiration. The first one "mine." took a little over 4 months to complete in four 1-month stages and now I'm working in another one, yet to be named. I define a goal for the marks that month and only work in the journal for 10-15 minutes every morning on that specific goal. Before I even set pencil or pen to it, I know exactly what my goal is and it's just a matter of doing it. I do this in the first quiet moments when my tea is steeping and BEFORE I check email or even set foot into the studio. It's small, portable, and easy to do anywhere.

That way, I make meaning in an artful way every single day, and if I can't find any more time that day to make art, at least I've done 10-15 minutes worth and made progress towards a goal.

Good luck!Erin Keanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06492564668112055750noreply@blogger.com
